The President of the Constitutional Court Ineta Ziemele visits the Court of Justice of the European Union

From 29 to 30 November, the President of the Constitutional Court Ineta Ziemele paid an official visit to the Court of Justice of the European Union (hereinafter – CJEU), where she met with the President of CJEU Koen Lenaerts, the Judges of CJEU Egils Levits, Ingrīda Labucka, Inga Reine, as well as with the legal advisors of these Judges and employees of the court.

Ineta Ziemele and the President of CJEU Koen Lenaerts discussed the methods of judicial dialogue of the CJEU and the European Constitutional Court, as well as the relevant issues of the EU law in connection with the core of the European Union’s values and the national constitutional law.

In the framework of her visit, Ineta Ziemele also participated in a festive event in honour of Latvia’s centenary organised for the Latvian specialists working at CJEU, where she gave the solemn address. Ineta Ziemele underscored that every employee with his or her attitude and respect towards their work created Latvia’s image in Europe. Ineta Ziemele’s words of  encouragement were – the more excellent we are the higher we shall raise our nation and our Latvia in our own eyes and in the eyes of others.
