Tomorrow, 9 April, will be accessible the publication for information purposes created by the Constitutional Court “Article 92 of the Constitution of the Republic of Latvia: the Right to a Fair Trial. Case law of the Constitutional Court”.  This will be the first edition in the series of publications launched by the Constitutional Court and dedicated to the Constitutional Court’s judicature relating to the issues of fundamental rights.

President of the Constitutional Court Ineta Ziemele: “The series of publications of the Constitutional Court is a new initiative of the Court aimed at informing and educating the society. The advisors of the Constitutional Court are involved in preparing it; their role is to conduct in-depth research and analysis of the Constitutional Court’s case law. To my conviction these series of publications will contribute to build a uniform understanding of the contents of the Constitution, moreover they will increase public trust in the Constitutional Court and the whole constitutional order of the State.”

The first edition in the series of publications was prepared by the Constitutional Court’s Advisors Alla Spale, Elīna Podzorova, Gatis Bārdiņš, Sandijs Statkus, Kristaps Tamužs, Uldis Krastiņš as well Līga Biksiniece-Martinova, the Judge of the Administrative District Court, who, in the framework of judicial dialogue implemented by the Constitutional Court, performed the duties of the Constitutional Court’s Advisor during the first half of 2019.

In preparing the bookazine, more than 90 rulings by the Constitutional Court, passed until 21 February 2019, were used. This is the most comprehensive and voluminous edition dedicated to the content of the right to a fair trial published in Latvia. It comprises a clear and logically arranged catalogue of the principles and rights included in Article 92 of the Satversme.

The summary is published by the publishing house of the state joint stock company “Tiesu namu aģentūra” [The Courthouse Agency] and will be available for purchasing from the Agency’s book-store https://tnagramatas.tna.lv/.
