Justice of the Constitutional Court Daiga Rezevska on an experience-sharing visit at the General Court of the European Union

06.02.2020.

From 27 to 31 January, Justice of the Constitutional Court Daiga Rezevska visited the General Court of the European Union (hereafter – GCEU). She met with GCEU Judge Inga Reine and legal staff members Māris Kurečko, Celin Remy, and Deyan Roussanov.

During the visit, the Justice gained insight into the way the daily work of GCEU was organised as well as in the procedure of preparing and hearing cases. Justice Daiga Rezevska and Judge Inga Reine as well as members of her bureau discussed several relevant legal matters, including the current case law of GCEU in cases pertaining to the civil service of the European Union (hereafter – the EU), competition law, intellectual property, and public procurement.

As part of the visit, Justice attended four hearings of GCEU. Case T-608/18 pertained to issues related to the rights of the EU civil servants, banking law and regulation on lending in the EU were examined in case T-414/17, case T-254/17 was related to the EU competition law, whereas in case T-717/18 a trade mark issue was decided on.

The experience gained allowed the Justice to find out more about the way GCEU views various legal matters from the perspective of the European Union law.
