The Election of the President of the Constitutional Court will be Held

On Friday 28 February the election of the President of the Constitutional Court will be held.

The President of the Constitutional Court is elected by closed ballot from among the Justices of the Constitutional Court.

The election is held at an open Court meeting. Pursuant with the Constitutional Court Rules of Procedure the candidate for the President’s office is nominated during the Court meeting. The Candidate states whether he or she agrees to being nominated.

The ballot is organised and votes counted by the secretary of the Court meeting. The votes are counted in the presence of the whole panel of justices. The President is elected, if the candidate has received the absolute majority of votes.

The President is elected for the term of three years.
