Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe elects Artūrs Kučs as Judge to the European Court of Human Rights in respect of Latvia

On 16 April, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe elected Artūrs Kučs as Judge to the European Court of Human Rights in respect of Latvia.

We are proud of this esteemed international recognition of his exceptional qualifications and extensive expertise in human rights.

On 2 September 2024, expires the term of office of the current judge to the Court in respect of Latvia.
Artūrs Kučs currently serves as a judge at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Latvia and is one of the ad hoc judges of the Court in respect of Latvia.
Pursuant to Article 23 of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, a judge to the Court is elected for a term of office of nine years, and re-election is not possible.
