Veronika Krūmiņa

Judge of the Constitutional Court

Veronika Krūmiņa was born on 24 March 1964. Graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia in 1987. Holds a Master’s degree in legal science. In 1990, perfected her professional knowledge in the speciality of international economic relations at the Institute of International Relations.

On 27 December 1999, Veronika Krūmiņa gave the judge’s oath. Veronika Krūmiņa commenced performing the duties of a judge at the Vidzeme Suburb Court. In 2004, was approved in the office of the judge of the Administrative Regional Court. In 2005, appointed to the office of the Senator of the Senate’s Department of Administrative Cases. Served as the Chairperson of the Senate’s Department of Administrative Cases since 2008.

Previously, Veronika Krūmiņa has held leading positions in public administration. She has been the Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice with responsibility for legislative matters and the Deputy State Secretary with responsibility for judicial matters. Participated in elaborating the draft Administrative Procedure Law and establishing administrative courts.

Veronika Krūmiņa has been a member of the Judicial Qualification Board, a member of the examination panel of the Latvian Council of Sworn Advocates, a member of the committee for selecting candidates for the judges’ offices of the European Union and a member for selecting candidates for the offices of judges of the European Court of Human Rights. Had been involved as a short-term expert in various projects in Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, and Ukraine.

Veronika Krūmiņa’s experience as a lector at the Latvian Judicial Training Centre and the School of Public Administration spans more than 20 years. Co-author of commentaries on the Constitution and the Administrative Procedure Law, author and co-author of other publications, has reviewed several textbooks. Has been actively involved in educating adolescents in schools.

Veronika Krūmiņa is a member of the Latvian Association of Administrative Judges.

Has been awarded the Order of Three Stars, the 1st  and 2nd  Degree Honorary Medals of the Justice System, the Senate’s Certificate of Recognition, and  the Cabinet of Ministers’ Certificate of Recognition.

On 11 April 2024, was approved as the Judge of the Constitutional Court. Entered office on 19 August 2024.
