03 / 02 / 2010 A case on the amount of the fine for a delayed submission of a declaration has been initiated
The Second Panel of the Constitutional Court has initiated a case “On Compliance of the Words “if These transactions Have not Been Declared in Accordance with Procedures Prescribed in Paragraph One of this Section – a Fine in the Amount of 15 Percent of the Total Amount of These Transactions, if not Provided Otherwise in This Section” of the Second Part of Section 30 of the Law “On Taxes and Fees” (Wording of 4 December 1997) with Article 1 of the Satversme (Constitution) of the Republic of Latvia”.

02 / 02 / 2010 Differences in social protection for the participants of the Chernobyl nuclear clean-up do not comply with the Satversme
The Constitutional Court has adjudicated the case No. 2009-46-01 “On Compliance of the First Sentence of Para 1 of the Transitional Provisions of the Law on the Social Protection of the Participants of the Chernobyl Nuclear Clean-up and Persons Suffered as a Result of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station Accident with Article 91 of the Satversme (Constitution) of the Republic of Latvia”.

27 / 01 / 2010 The President of the Constitutional Court has been elected
Today, on 27 January, elections of the President of the Constitutional Court took place. Justice of the Constitutional Court Gunārs Kūtris was elected to the office of the President of the Court for the second term.
Gunārs Kūtris was President of the Constitutional Court since 31 January 2007. Previously the Court was managed by Aivars Endziņš.

The First Panel of the Constitutional Court has initiated a case “On Compliance of Item 5 of Section 19 of the Law on Budget and Financial Management”, the Second Part of Section 44 of the Law on the State Audit Office and the Second Part of Section 19 of the Ombudsman Law with Article 1, Article 83 and Article 87 of the Satversme (Constitution) of the Republic of Latvia”.
