The Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Latvia Eugen Revenco visits the Constitutional Court

On Friday, 26 October, the President of the Constitutional Court Ineta Ziemele met the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova (hereinafter – Moldova) to Latvia Eugen Revenco. During the meeting, the parties discussed matters of cooperation pertaining to possible experience sharing of the lawyers from the Constitutional Court of Moldova at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Latvia.

The initiator of the idea is Mihai Poalelungi, the President of the Constitutional Court of Moldova. Ineta Ziemele underscored that the Constitutional Court of Latvia would be eager to support the growth of the Constitutional Court of Moldova and contribute to the drafting of the programme for sharing experience and would ensure its implementation.

Ineta Ziemele noted that as part of experience sharing, the lawyers from the Constitutional Court of Moldova would have the possibility to study the legal proceedings before the Constitutional Court and the Latvian model of constitutional review, gain an insight into the work of the Constitutional Court and master in practice the strict methodology used in the rulings by the Constitutional Court both in examining infringements on fundamental rights and the issues of the quality of legislation.

The parties agreed that the discussions regarding implementation of the project and attracting of financing should be continued in order to implement the project already during the coming year.
