Justices of the Constitutional Court meet with judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia in the framework of bilateral cooperation

From the 2nd to the 4th of October of the current year, the President of the Constitutional Court Ineta Ziemele, the Vice-president of the Constitutional Court Sanita Osipova and Justice of the Constitutional Court Jānis Neimanis, as well as the Advisor to the President of the Constitutional Court Laila Jurcēna will go on an official visit to Slovenia, Ljubljana, where they will visit the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia and meet the Judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia.

During the bilateral meeting the judges of the Constitutional Courts of both countries will discuss the impact of judgements by the European Court of Human Rights upon the case law of constitutional court, as well as implementation of constitutional review in matters of tax law. The President of the Constitutional Court Ineta Ziemele and the Justice of the Constitutional Court Jānis Neimanis, as well as Judges of the Slovenian Constitutional Court will give presentations on these two topics.

The aim of the bilateral meeting is to strengthen judicial dialogue and promote cooperation of the Courts, as well as to share experience and discuss relevant issues of constitutional law of both national and global scale.

During the visit the delegation of the Constitutional Court will also meet with Milan Brglez, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Slovenia (Parliament), and Peter Bossman, the Mayor of the City of Piran.
