Justices of the Constitutional Court Daiga Rezevska and Jānis Neimanis participate in international events of legal science

On 23 May, Justice of the Constitutional Court Daiga Rezevska participated in the conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Romanian Constitutional Court “A Quarter of a Century of Constitutionalism” in Bucharest, Romania. On Thursday, May 25, Justice of the Constitutional Court Jānis Neimanis will attend the annual congress of society Societas Iuris Publici Europaei (SIPE) in Milano, Italy.

At the conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Romanian Constitutional Court experts of international law from various countries, representatives of international institutions and constitutional courts will share their experience related to importance of the constitutional court in reinforcing legal stability and certainty. Daiga Rezevska will give a presentation at the discussion panel “Constitutional Court – Safeguard for the Rule of Law” on the topic “The Constitutional Court as the Guardian of the Basic Norm and General Principles of Law”. Cooperation among the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and constitutional courts, as well as issues linked to reviewing constitutionality of norms in criminal law will be discussed.

SIPE is an international society uniting European scholars of law, judges, court employees, as well as other members, who share interest in international public law. Jānis Neimanis joined SIPE last year. The society holds an annual conference in one of European countries on a relevant legal topic. The topic for the general meeting of this year is data protection and security. The event will provide to participants an opportunity to examine legal regulation on personal data protection and security in interconnection with development of digital technologies, freedom of expression of mass media in digital environment, as well as the State’s obligation to ensure access to information of public institutions.
