Joint press conference: Constitutional Court of Latvia and the Court of Justice of the European Union
Friday, 3 September, at 9.30 (UTC+3) the President of the Constitutional Court Sanita Osipova and the President of the Court of the European Union Koen Lenaerts will hold a joint press conference.
At this occasion the President of the Constitutional Court Sanita Osipova and the President of the Court of Justice of the European Union Koen Lenaerts will give their insight on the conference and answer the questions.
The Constitutional Court invited the Court of Justice of the European Union to take part in a working conference between different European courts with the aim to seek a common ground and to reconciliate different national identities and constitutional values of the Member States, on the one hand, and the need for a united European Union, on the other hand. The main conference thus forms a unique dialogue between the judges from the national constitutional courts and their counterparts from the Court of Justice of the European Union. It is the first event of its kind and its objective is to find a common understanding for further cooperation, and to strengthen the rule of law in the Union.
Conference “EUnited in diversity: between common constitutional traditions and national identities” takes place on 2 and 3 September 2021, location: Small Guild [Mazā Ģilde, Rīga]. Participants include Judges of the constitutional courts from 23 Member States of the European Union, as well as Judges and Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
