The delegation of the Slovenian Constitutional Court visits the Constitutional Court in the framework of bilateral cooperation
From 3 October to 5 October, the delegation of the Slovenian Constitutional Court pays an official visit to the Constitutional Court. Three working sessions will be held during the meeting, the judges will discuss the role of constitutional courts vis-á-vis global challenges and the case law of the Courts.
The purpose of the bilateral meeting is to consolidate the judicial dialogue of international level and promote cooperation between the Courts, as well as to share experience and discuss relevant issues of constitutional law of both national and global scale.
During the first working session Justice Daina Rezevska will give a presentation about some cases heard by the Constitutional Court, focusing on the Court’s conclusions and findings included in the judgements, whereas Judge Špelca Mežnar will explain the case law of the Slovenian Constitutional Court.
At the second working session, the justices will continue examining the topic of the role of constitutional courts in the globalised world, extending the discussion initiated at the international conference that the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Latvia held in Riga in May of the current year. The perspective of the Slovenian Constitutional Court on this topic will be presented by Judge Matej Accetto, whereas the Latvian Constitutional Court will be represented by the President of the Court Ineta Ziemele who will give a presentation.
The visit will be concluded by a discussion, during which the justices will share opinions and reflections on the presentations heard and the future cooperation to reinforce the rule of law in Europe.
The delegation of the Slovenian Constitutional Court will be comprised of the President of the Court Jadranka Sovdat, Judges – Špelca Mežnar, Rajko Knez, Matej Accetto, as well as the Secretary General of the Court Sebastian Nerad.
The bilateral cooperation with the judges of Slovenian Constitutional Court was commenced last October, when the delegation of the Latvian Constitutional Court visited the Slovenian Constitutional Court.
